Elizabeth's son, Mack, died suddenly of sepsis on New Year's Eve 2012. In the aftermath, she began reading widely from other bereaved parents to learn how they lived beyond the death of a beloved child. As many of us discover, sharing our stories helps illuminate the path, but we each must learn to walk them ourselves.
Elizabeth teaches at Penn State University and her essays can be read on Motherwell, Modern Loss, Open to Hope, and Compassionate Friends. She has participated in several national Compassionate Friends conferences and served on the content advisory board for the documentary Speaking Grief that seeks to help us all get better at grief. Elizabeth and her family founded the Mack Brady Memorial Soccer Fund at Penn State in Mack’s honor.
