Dr. Victor Evans is an educator, journalist, and writer with a passion for telling stories featuring LGBTQ voices that often go unheard. As an educator, his research focuses on LGBTQ images in the media and how these representations affect gay youth as they begin to acknowledge their sexuality. He has published numerous journal articles and produced a documentary series entitled, Curved TV. His fiction works include short stories in literary journals and three upcoming sci-fi books in the Fantastic World series.
As an entertainment journalist for over ten years, Victor wrote, produced, and edited for BET, CNN, MTV, and Entertainment Weekly. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Communication at Seattle University where he teaches journalism and multimedia courses. Prior to Seattle University, Victor taught communication courses at Thiel College, Highline College, and the University of Florida. He received his Bachelor of Journalism from Northwestern University in 1995, his Master of Arts in Dramatic Writing from New York University in 1997, and his Ph.D. in Media Studies from Union Institute and University in 2006.
Victor lives with his fiance on a farm filled with chickens, goats, ducks, pigs, and a peacock on Vashon Island, located just outside Seattle. He is a member of the Authors Guild. Please visit his website at victordevans.com.
