Author - William C. Davis
William C. Davis was for many years editor, then publisher of the magazine Civil War Times Illustrated, as well as corporate editorial director for Historical Times, Inc. (later Cowles magazines). The author or editor of more than 30 books on the Civil War and Southern history, most recently Jefferson Davis, The Man and His Hour and "A Government of Our Own": The Making of the Confederacy, he was also a consultant to the History Book Club and numerous other historical enterprises. Since 1994 he had been chief series consultant and commentator for the A&E Network series Civil War Journal, and has acted in an advisory capacity to several other television and film productions. At the time of the publication of the Gettysburg collectors edition magazine, he lived in a restored antebellum inn in Pennsylvania with Hannibal, his Great Dane, and about 10,000 books. He is now retired, living in Independence, Missouri.
