Dr. William Patrick Martin holds a doctorate in education and a master's in journalism. He has worked as a reporter, management consultant, and professor at Temple University and Monmouth University. Bill is the founder of Zabby Books, an Amazon bookstore that sells used books of all genres, a venture that supports his passion for writing. Before Decapitation Day, he authored four quotation books and three best-book guides, using the power of writing to educate and illuminate social justice issues.
Bill lives in central Pennsylvania. He’s married, has two children, and two grandchildren. He travels frequently, volunteers at the library, and writes in coffee shops, existing on coffee, chicken noodle soup, and the occasional pickled egg. Bill has a lifelong interest in all things bookish. As a child, he wrote and illustrated his own books and became addicted to books by reading comics, which explains his continuing interest in science fiction. Before creating his online bookstore and best book guides, Bill did his dissertation on the epic Great Books debate centered at the University of Chicago.
He has played many sports and especially loves recreational volleyball. Bill and Marianne, his wife and soulmate of 50 years, have traveled to many world destinations including the Amazon, Iceland, Egypt, Eastern Europe, the UK, the Mediterranean, and the West Indies.
Bill’s favorite quotation comes from Ralph Waldo Emerson: “Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us, or we find it not.”
