Daniel Stanton is addicted to sex, Christina Lambeau to crack cocaine. As a result of being arrested for one of his frequent transgressions, Daniel has already lost his wife and two teenage daughters when he comes to San Francisco to try to develop a new life. At the time he first encounters Christina, she is living mostly on the streets and in cheap hotels. The two begin a relationship and try to help each other recover in 1980s San Francisco.
