Jake Jennings struggles with dyslexia and the loss of his father who is missing in action in the Korean War. To cope, Jake escapes to the family attic and creates an imaginary world where “Christmas can be forever” and the Christmas tree ornaments can be his friends. When Jake’s mother becomes concerned that her son may be losing touch with reality, she takes him to Dr. Elway, a child reading specialist. Dr. Elway tells young Jake that dyslexia is “a gift,” and his instincts might be yielding truths others cannot see.
“A brilliant novel about a young dyslexic child who wants Christmas to last forever.”
